Deactivate the alarm!

Do you feel tense, stiff, your breath is short and you just can’t relax?As if that wasn’t enough, the pain here and there reminds you that something needs to change—but you don’t know what else to do?

Well, you’re definitely not alone in feeling this way. In fact, quite the opposite!I’m writing this post because I believe many people are confused about the real causes of their stress, and that’s why it’s so hard to find effective solutions.


There’s no denying that life today is increasingly stressful—work, schedules, expenses, kids, and everything in between…Still, the real root of stress-related discomfort lies in a biological function we share with other mammals: a built-in defense mechanism designed to protect us from immediate threats.

In simple terms, this system keeps us on high alert, tense, watchful, and ready—so that a predator doesn’t catch us off guard.The issue? Unlike other mammals, we’re not in danger from actual predators. Instead, our modern “threats” are far more complex: legal and bureaucratic worries, debt, financial stability, jobs, competition, crime, health...


This alarm system—now disconnected from its original purpose—is constantly activated by our thoughts and worries, leaving our body in a state of continuous tension that never really resolves.

This sophisticated system is called the Autonomic Nervous System, and it controls most of our automatic functions.

One of the most powerful ways to regulate and soothe this system—besides a good vacation, rest, and fulfilling relationships—is a good massage.

A good massage, through contact (more or less intense depending on the case), tells the body: You are safe. You can let go.Through the body, this message reaches the Autonomic Nervous System, which releases tension, freeing the mind from its constant need for control.

A relaxing, or when needed, a balancing and healing massage—done regularly—helps free us from this falsely triggered stress, making it easier to experience pleasure, rest, and real relaxation.
